Animal Discrimination

By A Louer

Just what exactly do real estate agents have against animals?

Reluctant to join the queer baby-boom that seems to be gripping the nation, I am of the old-school persuasion who keeps pets and treat them as my children. But try renting property with your four-legged babies in tow- it’s a minefield of discrimination. (more…)

Buying Real Estate With Your Partner

Buying property with your partner is a big commitment. While décor shopping at Ikea and discussing renovation plans for the outdoor entertaining area may be on the top of your to-do list, perhaps it is worth taking the time to sit down and discuss what happens if you don’t live ‘happily ever after’.

Real Estate Profiles- Families

If you have children or are thinking about starting a family, there are many things to consider when buying a home. A ‘family’ home is usually seen as a long-term investment and somewhere to settle for a considerable amount of time, so choosing the right one is an important task.

Real Estate Profiles- DINK’s

Price guide:

$400,000 to $1,800,000

DINKs Priorities:

According to Subiaco real estate agent, Nikki Peinke, the most important feature childless, high-income couples look for when choosing a home is lifestyle.
‘We see a lot of couples who both work and they tend to choose low-maintenance homes because they just don’t have the time to do a lot of gardening etc, and homes that they can lock up and leave when they go on holiday,’ she said. (more…)

Real Estate Profiles- First Homebuyers

The first homebuyer demographic is one of the few sections of the real estate market that is quite strong at the moment, with people taking advantage of the increased first homebuyers grant and lower interest rates.

Price guide

Under $400,000

First Home Buyers Priorities

While people’s individual needs may differ, the basic requirement for a first homebuyer should be a property that will increase in value over time. Not a big problem according to real estate agent Paul Owen, ‘If you are looking at a long-term investment, I can guarantee you will make money on a property you buy today.
‘I know we’re going through a bust cycle at the moment but that will turn around, it always does.’ (more…)
