Official Pride Homecoming Party Profiles: Drag Queens

It’s not a Pride Party without a drag show… and nowhere does a drag show quite like Connections does. This Pride’s Homecoming Party, Perth’s very own undisputed home of drag will be delivering a whooping six shows. There will be simultaneous shows occurring throughout the night every two hours from midnight with upstairs (Main Room) and downstairs (Marquee) the spots to be at 12am, 2am and 4am respectively. Start cloning yourselves now because these shows promise to be outrageous. (more…)

Official Pride Homecoming Party Profiles: DJs

The Pride Homecoming Party happens on Saturday October 31 at Connections Nightclub and features an amazing array of over 15 DJs. Below is brief outline of some of the best that will be playing at the party, so get ready for some block rocking beats, the kind dreams are made of.

DJ Seb Sharp (aka DJ Kinky)
Style? ‘Has issues with boundaries’
Years? Sixteen in total. Since I was four, clearly.
Venues? I had to write this out last year for a biography, and it appears I am a whore for venues. Forty two, without leaving the state. I’m attending counseling.
Pride parties? This will be my eighth.
If you weren’t a DJ, you would be… a poof with a lot of records. (more…)

A Homecoming

This year’s Pride Festival theme, Homecoming, is about people coming back to Perth to celebrate 20 years of Pride. Pride is embracing this theme by using an array of homegrown talent at this year’s Pride Party, and bringing some home grown talent back to Perth for Fairday this Sunday.

It’s a chance to reflect on the progress made over 20 years and an opportunity to celebrate many of the freedoms we can now enjoy. The festival contains over 80 different opportunities to get out and about and enjoy Perth. (more…)

It Feels Like Homecoming!

I was so honoured when I received a phone call from Charles Denham, the male co-chair of PRIDE, to ask me to be the PRIDE patron for this year.

I have always been a strong supporter of PRIDE and what it has achieved in our community in the past 20 years. The importance of a group like PRIDE has not diminished over that time, although there have been challenges and hurdles for them to get over. But fortunately we have seen a strong resurgence in interest and support of PRIDE and its aims and objectives and I am proud to be the patron for this year. (more…)

Connections Nightclub: Home Is Where The Heart Is…

For Connections Nightclub, Pride means community spirit and getting everyone together. It’s really important to us; hence we’re doing the Pride after-party again for the second year in a row and it’s back with a vengeance!

Homecoming as the Pride theme ties nice and neatly into how we operate- generally as a big family. Connies is home for me, and its home to probably the majority of the customers that come out here. It’s probably got more regular customers than any other venue around, maybe apart from the Court Hotel, so it’s home to quite a lot of people. It’s home in an emotional sense; a lot of our customers have gone through that coming out process, like we’ve all done, and it’s a comfort place to come back to, time and time again. (more…)

The Court Hotel: Full Festival Ahead

We didn’t think it could happen but The Court is planning an even bigger and better October than last year!

It all kicks off with a huge party after Fairday, featuring live bands all afternoon and Swish performing live on stage. Then Queen of The Court is back every Thursday night, where you can watch the baby drags battle is out for a coveted spot on The Court float. Don’t miss our huge 2nd birthday party on Friday the 9th where there’s free cake and presents plus hilarious shows by our staff. Sunday the 11th sees none other than Jay West; one of the most important underground house names ever to come out of South America, hit the beer garden for our biggest Sunday session ever. The party continues with Step Back in Time retro night with DJ Seb Sharp spinning all your favourite groovy, old tunes on Friday the 16th. Then get your ovens ready for the GLCS Bake-off on Sunday the 18th or just come down and indulge your sweet tooth. (more…)
