The picture is believed to be from a register office in Dereham, Norfolk near to the couple’s home.

Fry posted to Twitter writing,“Gosh. @ElliotGSpencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing.”

The couple, who started dating in 2014, confirmed their plans to wed just 11 days ago when the media discovered they had obtained a marriage license.

Both Fry and Spencer wore green carnations, a nod to writer Oscar Wilde, who Fry portrayed on screen.

Fry’s former comedy partner Hugh Laurie congratulated the couple tweeting, “Bloody hell it’s happened! @ElliottGSpencer has made an honest man of m’col. Love and happiness to all!!” Fry and Laurie always refer to each other as m’col (my colleague) on Twitter.
