What’s the Best Method for Footy Tipping?

ManOnMan 634x356What’s the best method for selecting your footy tips?

Our panel of mostly clueless tipsters have used a variety of methods, lets take a look at the competition to date and see how things are going.

At the end of the first week Jemma was on top of the board, but as we add the second half of the split round others are catching up.

Seven Games Correct

Jemma from The Court leaped to the front last week but was soon caught up by Andie Michelle from Connections Nightclub, RTRFM’s Paul van Leishout Hunt and Oskar and his cat Mmrr.

Five Games Correct

Photographer Claire Alexander seems to have a good knack for picking a winner as does Drag Queen Hannah Conda, while Ryan and RyWri from OUTinPerth have scored better than average.

Four Games Correct

DJ TimBee, Wayne from Gay Aussie Selfies, journalist Sophie Joske, Connections Barbie Q and Court Hotel owner Bree Maddox have picked up their game and ticked the right box four times.

Three Games Correct

OUTinPerth editor Graeme Watson, Neil from The Court Hotel, Connections Matty Grose and personal trainer Sav from Workout Savvy are yet to show any talent for picking a team.

Last Weeks Picks

Geelong VS Adelaide Crows

Almost all of our tipsters went with Geelong, a choice that paid off.  Bree Maddox followed the logic of “cats eats birds”, a thinking shared by Ryan Boldison. Claire Alexander picked all her choices based on which animal was cutest or whether or not she wanted a holiday there. Since nobody has ever wanted a holiday in Geelong we’re assuming Claire thinks cats are cuter that crows. Neil backed the cats because crows make an annoying sound that keeps you awake. Oskar and his cat Mmrr went for the cats because Mmrr is a cat. RyWri supported the cats because Paula Abdul is on the cover of OUTinPerth this month and she’s famous for her duet with MC Skat Kat.

On the wrong side of history were Graeme Watson and Tim Bee. Tim Bee picked the Crows after looking through their players photos and deciding they were decidedly better looking. Graeme just went for Adelaide because he was born in Whyalla.

North Melbourne VS Essendon

Bree sided with the Bombers as did Paul van Leishout Hunt, Hannah and BarbieQ. For going against the grain they were awarded with a point.

The other 80% picked the wrong side. RyanB was keeping clear of Essendon because of their scandals, while Neil picked Melbourne saying just had a feeling”. Jemma couldn’t go  past the cuteness of their Kangaroo mascot. Oskar and Mmrr stayed away from The Bombers because when the movie ‘AirForce One’ was on TV recently Mmrr hid under the couch. Oskar wasn’t confident if Mmrr’s aversion was to planes or Harrison Ford – but took it as a sign. TimBee sided with North Melbourne because their shorts are actually shorter.

Hawthorn VS Brisbane

Our tipsters were split 50/50 on this game. Jemma tossed a coin and went for Brisbane. Bree backed the Lions because “they’re the king of the jungle”, Claire went with the Lion’s because “lions are cute”.

RyanB went with Hawthorn because they’re sponsored by the state of Tasmania. As someone who works in sales RyanB was impressed that they got a whole state to sponsor them – and it’s not even their state!

St Kilda VS Melbourne

RyanB picked The Demons because he followed the logic that the Westbro Baptist Church would expect him to hang out with such company. TimBee felt a loyalty to Melbourne for all the joy he’s got out of those nude photos that leaked a while a go.

Jemma was backing the Saints because she used to live near St Kilda beach. Bree felt the Saint had God on their side. Graeme picked the Saints out of loyalty to his old boss who was a massive Saints fan.

West Coast VS Melbourne Bulldogs

Everyone picked West Coast for the win, but it wasn’t all just supporting the local guys. Ryan B picked the Eagles because rough games of British Bulldog mentally scarred him as a child. Jemma imagined a giant Eagle fighting a giant Bulldog and decided the Eagle would win the duel.
