The Pipettes – We are the Pipettes

If you got out the blender and mixed equal parts of vintage Blondie, a sprig of Tracey Ullman, a dash of the Shirelles and a large dollop of Cindy Lauper, you’d probably achieve the sound of UK girl band, the Pipettes. Released in the UK in July last year, this album went to #41 in the UK album chart and the first single, Your Kisses are Wasted on Me’ went to #5 on the US singles chart this year. Fun and infectious, these three polka-dot clad chantueses do belt out a tune. Always tongue in cheek, these catchy pop tunes laced with great three-part harmonies will have you both dancing and laughing at the same time. With other song titles like …One Night Stand; Dirty Mind; Because it’s not Love (But it’s still a Feeling), one could be forgiven for thinking I was flicking through Gary’s late night porn collection!!
