The A-List

Save some energy in the busy December/NYE social schedule for the inspiring and unique collection of world music performances on offer.

WASO join with ageless diva Dionne Warwick again at the Perth Convention Centre on Dec 3rd. If you don’t know the way to San Jose, you should at least be able to find that subtle piece of architecture punctuating our foreshore. On Sunday the 9th, WASO perform their Symphony in the City on the Esplanade.

Perth is officially the most multi-cultural city in Australia (take that Melbourne!). Kulcha presents Doris, local duo (Jane Cornes and Margie Hanley), with their delightfully obscene homage to chocolate perform on December 7. On Sunday the 9th, Kulcha hosts the International Human Rights Day Concert at the Fremantle Arts Centre. Celebrate our promised new era of GLBTIQ human rights to the sound of high energy contemporary world music. Guitar Duo on 9 December 2pm

INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY CONCERT – FREMANTLE With elegant synchronicity, John Christmass (founder/Musical Director of the New I Voci Singers) and conductor Dobbs Franks and orchestra invite you Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday the 12th for a Welcome to Christmas. The New I Voci Singers also perform on Friday the 14th at Kulcha in Freo.

The City of Subiaco presents Sunday evening in various Subi parks. On Dec 16 enjoy carols (some people still enjoy carols! …they do!) performed by Christmas Presence, preceded by Ambassador Belles chiming in from 6.20pm.

Perth Jazz Society moved its annual Ladies of Jazz night to the Charles Hotel. This year The Jazz Divas re-unite for one performance on Monday the 17th.

On NYE you can hit Going Going Gong, presented by Artrage at The Bakery. Mama Cass is listed amongst the massive line-up. Surprising, considering she died in 1974. Perhaps this is “other-worldly music”.
