December Pride in OZ

With Adelaide in recovery from Feast, Melbourne gears up to take the Pride torch for Midsumma. The Midsumma Festival will celebrate all things rainbow from Friday, January 20 to Sunday February 12. In addition to the usual Pride festivities – parade on February 5 and dance party Carnival on February 12 – Melbourne has a lineup of art and sporting events that (unless you’re from Sydney!) are widely regarded as the best of the Australian Prides. This year the first ever Asia Pacific Outgames will run alongside Midsumma with 12 different sporting events on offer – register on www.melbourneoutgames.org. Perth’s own Nat Ripepi and 6000 Red will rock the music offerings as part of the Homophonix show on January 24 and 26. And it appears every queer artist in Melbourne will be further adding to the fun with theatre, cabaret, spoken word and visual arts on offer. To get a full rundown, check out www.midsumma.org.au… Then get onto booking flights and accommodations, as both are sure to go quickly!
