Perth’s local gay and lesbian dance group took home 10 medals from Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival dance competition in February. Members of Outdance, the WA-based dance group, were awarded with two gold medals for the B- group of standard Waltz, Tango, Quick Step and for the Salsa. The team was also received a silver and seven bronze medals in the 21 events they competed in.

Some 70 couples from around the country and New Zealand attended the event with 13 dancers from Western Australia competing in 21 of the 40 events. An Outdance member said the team was very proud of their results and were looking forward the next event held in South Australia in October 2012. The Outdance team had been in training for months in preparation for the Same Sex Dance Sports competitions.
