The Young George team thanked both staff and patrons for their support for the business.

“To our team, past and present: You are the heart and soul behind every accolade we ever earned.

“To our guests: Thank you for every seat you filled and every memory shared over the last ten years.” they added.

Melissa Palinkas

Young George featured the culinary delights of chef Melissa Palinkas who spent five years in the United Kingdom learning her trade before heading up the team at Mash Brewing. Young George was co-owned by partner Susan Whelan.

The couple have said that there was no single issue that has led to the venues closing, but told WA Today that rapidly increasing costs of ;living and the closure of the Fremantle Traffic Bridge had been factors.

In 2019, Palinkas won the WA Good Food Guide’s Chef of the Year, and the following year she took home Mentor of the Year.
