Connections Revitalised and Reborn

Connections RenovationAfter 31 years Perth’s grand dame of nightclubs, Connections, is undergoing major renovations.

The changes go far beyond mere redecoration or basic refurbishment, so forget any ideas of a bit of nip and tuck, or just a new frock and lippy refresh for the ol frump.

The new design, by boutique architects Chindarsi, includes major structural changes that will see the venue born-again from February 9.

The club is being totally gutted to allow the rear to be extended giving expanded capacity, with the creation of a new rooftop terrace bar that has uninterrupted views of the city skyline.

Marble, floral wallpaper and smoke mirrors are all part of the interior refurbishment, and expanded and improved facilities are promised for both ladies and gents.

Owner Tim Brown says the while the new outdoor space is enclosed on three sides, the the fourth opens to spectacular uninterrupted views of the city. With its own DJ box and smart bar on the terrace, the space will be “A sophisticated beer garden with chillout/lounge music outside,” he said.

Connies will remain open throughout the refurbishment by operating downstairs in Plaka until the new space opens at 8pm on Friday February 9. Operating Fridays, Saturdays and Wednesdays initially, Sunday openings are rumoured begin in a month’s time.

And don’t miss the Opening Pride Fundraiser Party two weeks later  “Don’t mean a thing if it aint got that bling” in a month, ghetto fabulous meets Missy Elliott, with an old style anthems show too.
