Team Perth is calling on passionate members of Western Australia’s LGBTQIA+ sporting and broader community to nominate for leadership and portfolio positions ahead of the organisation’s inaugural Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 17 September 2026.
The AGM marks an important milestone for Team Perth as the organisation continues to strengthen its governance, expand support for LGBTQIA+ sporting clubs and build greater capacity across the community in the lead-up to Perth hosting the Gay Games in 2030 and beyond.
Nominations are now open for Team Perth’s elected leadership positions of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as a range of portfolio director positions focused on growing the organisation’s reach and impact.
Portfolio opportunities include Marketing & Communications, Membership & Club Engagement, Events & Community Engagement, Partnerships & Sponsorship, Governance & Inclusion, Research & Policy, as well as opportunities for general Team Perth involvement.
Janet Bolton will continue as the International Sport & Gay Games Liaison, while Dee Farrell will remain in the Legacy portfolio. Both also hold positions on the Perth Gay Games Board as Team Perth representatives.

Team Perth Chair Justin Barnes said the organisation was seeking committed people who were passionate about increasing participation in sport and creating a genuinely connected LGBTQIA+ community.
“I will be nominating for Chair again at our inaugural AGM because I strongly believe in how far Team Perth has come, what we can achieve and the opportunity we now have to build stronger connections locally, nationally and globally.
“I’m incredibly excited about this next phase, and I really hope we see more community members put their hands up to bring their experience, ideas and passion to Team Perth.
“This is about building something that lasts, supporting our existing clubs, helping new LGBTQIA+ sporting communities form and creating a strong legacy well beyond 2030,” Barnes said.
