Adelaide’s Pride March returns this November

Adelaide’s Pride March will return to the city’s East End on Friday 7 November, creating a visible celebration of community and inclusion.

The annual event sees thousands of people walk through the streets of Adelaide on a Friday afternoon in support of LGBTQIA+ pride and equality.

The 2026 march marks the first time the event has been backed by the South Australian Government. Earlier this year, Katrine Hildyard, Minister for Human Services, announced a commitment of $20,000 annually for the next four years. It is the first time the event has received government support through a multi-year funding agreement.

The annual march has been run by Pride Adelaide for 23 years and continues the legacy of Adelaide’s first Proud Parade, held in 1973, two years before South Australia became the first Australian jurisdiction to decriminalise homosexuality.

Adelaide Pride chairman Dave Newman said the ongoing funding would make a significant difference.

“For a volunteer-led organisation, that certainty is incredibly valuable and provides a strong foundation for the future,” Newman said.

The Pride March falls within the dates of the Feast Festival, making it an ideal time to visit South Australia and experience the state’s LGBTQIA+ cultural celebrations.
