Woman charged after alleged intimidation incident at Sydney pastors’ home

A Sydney family who run an evangelical church have alleged that four people visited their home, cut power to the property, attempted to break in, and made death threats against them.

Andrew Sedra and Martin Sedra are pastors at Echo Church in Sydney, alongside Martin Sedra’s wife Millicent Sedra and Andrew Sedra’s wife Noleen Sedra. They have a large social media following and have attracted criticism for conservative evangelical Christian views, including opposition to marriage equality, transgender inclusion, Pride events, drag performances, and conversion therapy bans.

Last weekend, the couples posted a video to their social media channels which they allege shows four people outside their home. The family alleges the group cut power to the property, attempted to enter the residence, and threatened to kill those inside. They described the alleged offenders as “left-wing LGBT activists”.

The edited clip shows a woman making fun of family members’ names and demanding they come outside. Other footage shows individuals wearing hooded clothing.

The video spread rapidly through evangelical Christian media networks internationally. It also attracted the attention of actor Candace Cameron Bure, known for Full House and Fuller House, who said she was praying for the family’s protection.

The incident comes weeks after anti-transgender campaigner Kirralie Smith, chief executive of Binary Australia, reported receiving a death threat, along with a threat made against fellow campaigner Sall Grover ahead of a Sydney rally.

NSW Police confirmed to OUTinPerth that a woman has been charged with intimidation following an alleged disturbance at a home in Sydney’s south-west.

Police said officers attended a home in Sydney’s south-western suburbs, shortly before 8.30pm on Thursday, 3 September 2026, after reports of a disturbance. Officers issued move-on directions to four people. Police said three complied, while a 39-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly failing to do so.

Police said they were later informed that the woman allegedly threatened occupants of the home. The woman has since been served with a Future Court Attendance Notice for allegedly stalking or intimidating another person with intent to cause fear of physical harm. She is scheduled to appear before Picton Local Court on 22 October 2026.

Police have not publicly confirmed the family’s separate allegations that power was cut to the property or that anyone attempted to break into the home. They have also not made any statements about the offenders sexuality or political affiliations.

Following the incident, the Sedra family launched a fundraising campaign to assist with the cost of relocating. More than $300,000 was reportedly raised within a week.

OUTinPerth contacted the Sedra family and Echo Church multiple times seeking comment but did not receive a response.
