After eight seasons, 69 episodes and 80 contestants, the BBC has reportedly ended its involvement with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
The broadcaster said it was stepping away from the production due to “significant financial pressures”. The show itself is not ending, however. Production company World of Wonder has announced plans for a Drag Race UK All Stars series, which is expected to air on its streaming platform in 2027.
Since making its debut in October 2019, the British version has become one of the most popular editions in the growing Drag Race franchise. It was the fourth international version of the format and the second to feature RuPaul as host and head judge.
The series features judges Michelle Visage, Graham Norton and Alan Carr. Over the years, winners have included The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney, Krystal Versace, Danny Beard, Kyran Thrax and Bones.
The eighth season is currently airing in the UK.
As part of wider cost-cutting measures, the BBC has also brought an end to Celebrity Mastermind, Blankety Blank and Live at the Apollo.
