Local organisation Pride in Swan has vowed to stop using images created with artificial intelligence following community backlash.
The group recently posted promotional artwork for its upcoming games night, Queeroplay.
“We sincerely thank our community members and allies for sharing their concerns, feedback and guidance regarding the promotional material published earlier this morning,” the statement said.
“At Pride in Swan, we deeply value the voices of our community and recognise the importance of listening, learning and being accountable for our decisions.
“Following careful consideration and discussion, the Pride in Swan Management Committee has unanimously decided that, moving forward, we will not use AI-generated images or artwork in any of our promotional materials.”
The organisation said it recognised that many followers were disappointed and concerned by the use of AI-generated artwork.
“We sincerely apologise for any disappointment or hurt this may have caused. As a community-led organisation, we believe in celebrating human creativity, respecting artists and ensuring that our actions reflect the values of inclusion, authenticity, respect and community connection,” Pride in Swan said.

Since launching just a few years ago, Pride in Swan has become a productive and busy organisation, running regular events and the successful annual Pride in Swan Festival each November.
The Pride in Swan Festival will return to Stirling Gardens in Guildford on Saturday, 21 November, from 2pm to 9pm. The event features stalls, food and live entertainment, and has developed a distinct identity by bringing together LGBTQIA+ communities and multicultural groups.
