USA

The US Democratic presidential campaign has beginning to get interesting even though the National Convention is not until August 2008 and an election not until November 2008. Senator Hillary Clinton has started courting the gay vote by speaking in favour of gay rights at an unpublicized lunch hosted by Human Rights Campaign on 2nd March. In her address Senator Clinton claimed that the gay community would have an open channel of communication with the Oval Office if she is elected but refused to answer questions on the campaign trail as to why the event was unpublicized. Senator Clinton’s hottest competition Congressman, Barack Obama, is proudly anti-war, pro-choice, pro-universal health care and a supporter of civil unions for lesbian and gay couples making it the one of the most exciting fields in recent American history.
