Loton Park Triumph Over Ace Girls at Inaugural Pink Sofa Cup

On November 1 the inaugural Pink Sofa Cup – a new national lesbian tennis tournament – was held at Loton Park. It saw Melbourne’s Ace Girls fly in to battle it out with the Loton Park Ladies in competition which included hotly contested singles and doubles matches.

The morning started slowly for the Loton Ladies, with the top two Ace Girls easily winning their games. However, the rest of the games were hard fought, with a very tough 3 set match between Claire (Loton) and Rema (Ace) ending with Claire coming out the winner. The final singles tally was Loton 4, Ace Girls 2.

In the doubles, the Ace Girls took out the first game after Loton dropped the second set. Loton Girls then won the next in a close 3 set match. Final doubles scores of the day saw Loton take the lead with 7 wins while Ace weren’t too far behind with 6, however Loton were declared the first winners of the Pink Sofa Cup.

The next event at Loton Park is The Men’s Only Day on November 30. This is an inaugural fundraiser for WA AIDS Council with the $10 entry fee $10 going to WAAC. For full details visit the website www.lotonpark.com.au or phone 0418 942 231 for further information on Loton Park events.
