Super stylish gay singer Sam Sparro is about to wow Perth audiences with his special brand of Black and Gold hits at Good Vibrations.

Getting on the bill? I had recently appeared in Australia and the promoters of the festival were quite interested in what I was doing, because Good Vibrations is all about dance music, hip hop and electronic music. So I jumped on board right away: I’m a big fan of the festival.

Other acts you want to see? I’m a huge Presets fan. I think they’re phenomenal. For just two people on stage I really think they bring a lot to the table live, so I’m really looking forward to seeing them. And The Roots – I’m a big fan of The Roots and they have a phenomenal show. It’ll be interesting to see how an Australian crowd reacts to them as well.

Best festival story? I’ve played a lot of festivals in Europe this summer. I just played Glastonbury and that was just the best. The crowd reaction was amazing. It was when Black & Gold was at the top of the charts in the UK, so it was just an unbelievable reaction. The other end of that is the worst one. It was pissing down with rain so hard that I wasn’t even playing, I was just sitting in the bus waiting for it to end for like 10 hours.

Was that the festival [Bestival ’08 on the Isle of Wight, according to Sam Sparro’s blog ] where your stage actually sank? Yes, the exact same festival it had rained that hard.

What 3 things should everyone bring to an outdoor concert? Sunnies, sun-block and [deleted!].

Your dream festival? It would be in Thailand and it would be called Go Phunkit. It would feature The Presets, Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, LCD Sound System, Hot Chip and myself.
