Homosexual Convictions to be Removed

Men in Great Britain previously convicted of engaging in consensual gay sex will be able to have the conviction wiped off their criminal records in October.

The change will mean official databases will be able to completely delete these convictions off the system. Gay sex was not legalized in the UK until 1967.

Those applying for jobs requesting a Criminal Records Bureau check will no longer have to provide details of the conviction. The change for some will mean the complete removal a criminal record if it was their only crime committed.

Before last year’s election, David Cameron had previously announced plans to wipe criminal records of the discriminatory conviction.
