Challenging Gender At The Dophin Theatre

News

The provocative and challenging play M. Butterfly will be showing at the Dolphin Theatre of UWA in the coming month. When a French Diplomat stationed in Beijing falls in love with the delicate Chinese opera singer Song Liling, he launches a twenty year love affair brimming with passion.

Although he sees her as the ‘perfect women’ in his eyes, ‘she’ soon reveals to be quite the contrary. The challenge of gender stereotypes amidst a Euro-Asia love affair is not to be missed. This compelling award winning play is written by David Henry Hwang and Directed by Barry Park.
