Electronic Duo are Coming to Perth

softwar-press[1]Originally deriving the name ‘Softwar’ from ‘Software’ at their parent’s house, two Australian DJs by the name of Myles Du Chateau and Jeremy Lloyd are now touring the country as part of the new generation of electronic artists.

Starting off two years out of school, the duo begun by remixing hip hop, psyche rock and dance music in Sydney bars.

“There’s a bar in Sydney I used to play at where I’d start out with psych and move from psych to disco then Id move to dance music, I’d do that for about five hours, it was so much fun”, said Lloyd.

The last couple of years have been fast-moving for the duo; attention caught in the UK resulted in remixes for the likes of Groove Armada, Azari & III and Two Door Cinema Club. The boys also have work with Detroit Swindle coming up.

The release of two new tracks, Believe and One Day, represent an exciting turn for Softwar, who have transitioned into making their own music.

“Believe is more of a straight up no messing around house tune whereas One Day is a bit more wonky, a bit stranger, I think we kind of balance the two out. We definitely wanted to make it more of a club friendly release.

“When we eventually make an album we’re going to aim at club songs but then we also want to make more interesting listening tunes. The idea for the album would be to make one big collection of songs that would flow into each other, a nice flow, 100bpm, cruisey sort of tunes”, explained Lloyd.

Soon to be touring the country with their Believe/One Day EP launch, Lloyd explained how this tour will be the first one cohesively planned:
“We wanted to do a show in every major city, we’ve played all around the place so far but we wanted to do one big tour where we sit down beforehand and actually consider what we’re going to play and sort of plan out each show. We really put a lot of effort into an orchestrated performance rather than just a DJ set”.

Lloyd spoke excitingly about hitting Perth and playing at the Aviary, a venue they played the year before, he also spoke about what’s in store next for the pair.

“After the tour we’re back in the studio we’ve got another EP with Clubmod which will come out in about three months and we’ve been talking about putting together a live show.”

Softwar will be playing at the Aviary on Sunday June 30. Grab your tickets here.
