IDAHO Day Flash Mob

To celebrate International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) the Freedom Centre this morning staged a spontaneous flash mob in the middle of the Perth CBD.

Placed in the middle of Forrest Place, volunteers danced around to ‘Respect’ by Aretha Franklin, waving around rainbow flags whilst wearing shirts to promote IDAHOT.

Originally known as IDAHO, discrimination against transphobia has recently been added to the title, IDAHOT is an internationally known day which highlights discrimination towards the queer community. It marks the day the World Health Organisation removed the classification of homosexuality as a mental disorder, this alteration was made on May 17 1990.
