5 Things to do Instead of Watching Game of Thrones

GAme of ThronesThe fourth season of ‘Game of Thrones’ starts today and will be on Australian television screens just two hours after it’s US premiere.

BUT you’ve got to have the expensive Foxtel channel Showcase to be able to see the show, and it won’t be available on iTunes either.

So if you don’t have access to Showcase. Here’s some ideas on how you can bide your time.

1. Make your own Game of Thrones world with Lego

Lego is so cool right now with The Lego Movie opening last week in cinemas. The medieval themed Lego is perfect for creating your own Game of Thrones world.

2. Create some slash fiction.

The books of ‘Game of Throne’ only hints at the sexuality of Loras Tyrell, but in the TV series we’ve seen him disrobe and jump into bed with both King Renly and a hot young Squire. Go for your life and write some fan fiction teaming Loras up with any character of your choosing.

3. Watch something a bit similar.

Lower your standards and watch one of those other shows that is a bit similar. ‘Rome’, ‘Atlantis’, ‘Da Vinci’s Demons’, ‘Vikings’, ‘Merlin’ or even some old episodes of ‘Xena Warrior Princess’.

4. Just read the books.

Game of Thrones is based on the books by George R R Martin, there are five books so far and they’re way ahead of the TV series. Go old school – read a book.

5. Move to America.

It’s a valid reasons to relocate you life across the globe. Plus real estate is much cheaper in the US than it is in Perth. You might want to come up with another reason though on your immigration application.
