Lindsay Lohan to Make West End Debut

24-lindsay-lohan-oprahLindsay Lohan is set to make her West End stage debut later this year appearing in David Mamet’s ‘Speed the Plow’.

The actress who has in recent years been better known for her stints in rehab, mug shots and reality television series, will play the secretary Karen in the play.

The play first debuted on Broadway in 1988 with Madonna in the secretary role opposite Joe Mantenga and Ron Silver.

A Los Angeles production saw Alicia Silverstone in the same role, while musical star Laura Michelle Kelly played opposite Jeff Goldblum and Kevin Spacey in a 2008 production in London. The most recent production on Broadway in 2009 starred Raul Esparza, Jeremy Piven and Elizabeth Moss.

Lohan’s production will be directed by Lindsay Posner who has a string of David Mamet plays under his belt including productions of ‘Romance’, ‘Sexual Perversity in Chicago’, ‘A Life in the Theatre’, ‘Oleanna’ and ‘American Buffalo’.

David Mamet has written 35 plays and over 30 feature films during his career, alongside his work in television and books.
