Shane Colquhoun Joins Strut Dance

Shane ColquhounShane Colquhoun has joined the team at STRUT Dance, the national choreographic centre based in Perth.

Colquhoun who was patron of last year’s Pridefest has joined the dance company in the role of Business Development Manager.

Shane will join STRUT Dance on a part-time basis from early August. His appointment comes at a pivotal moment as STRUT begins to deliver its new STRUT Up and Dance programme to the sector.

The company’s Director Paul Selwyn Norton welcomed Colquhounto the organisation noting that the former General Manager of Black Swan State Theatre Company would bring a mountain of experience.

“We are on the brink of something very exciting with STRUT and having the caliber of Shane in the mix means our vision of making Perth a beacon of excellence and opportunity for all dance artists across Australia is that much more achievable.” Norton said.

Colquhoun is no stranger to the dance world he moved into arts management after a successful career as a professional dancer overseas and in Australia. Previously he has worked with a range of arts organisations including Deckchair Theatre, The West Australian Ballet and most recently Black Swan State Theatre Company. Colquhoun also has experience within the government having spent nine years at the Department of Culture and the Arts.

Earlier this year, he re-established his own arts consultancy business and is also a part-time lecturer in Arts Management at the WA Academy of Performing Arts and a Board member of Country Arts WA and The Blue Room Theatre.
