Awarded the letter ‘H’ in OUTinPerth’s 2013 ‘A to Z of Cool’, ‘Home Open’ make theatre, dance and music get up close and personal. A typical ‘Home Open’ evening would give audiences a series of short, varied performance works in a cozy abode somewhere in Western Australia.

Now however, the artists are breaking new ground with ‘Home Open: The Renovation’, bringing that same appreciation of environment and sense of intimacy to the beautiful art deco surrounds of MosArts. The evening is curated by local actor and longtime collaborator with The Cutting Room Floor, Verity Softly.

Six artists will be bringing their works to every corner of the strikingly retro building. Musicisan Alex Brittan will be traveling from Melbourne to perform a mixed-media work alongside original music based on a Greek myths. Local writer Jordan Nix has written a piece exploring what happens when private pictures go public. In a piece by award-winning writer and performer Tyler Jacob-Jones (pictured), we will see how social media effects relationships from the inside of a car. There’ll also be a dance work choreographed by Megan Watson, and Zoe Hollyoak will take advantage of the Mosman Park surrounds using a blend of theatre and poetry.

‘Home Open: The Renovation’ is on at MosArts, 16 Lochee St, Mosman Park at 8pm on Friday October 31st and Saturday October 1st. Doors and bar are open from 6.30pm, tickets are available from trybooking.com
