So far the Premier has just posted one tweet, but he did promise he’d post more as he made more friends at the G20. The premier quickly picked up over 400 followers during his first hour on the social networking site.

By comparison the Indian Prime Minster has close to 7 million followers and has posted over 6000 messages to his followers.

The Premier is following the accounts of the WA Electoral Commission, Perth’s new stadium, St John of God Hospital, Western Power and the Perth Arena.  Mr Barnett is following a total of 55 government bodies, non-profit organisations and several radio stations, but no actual people or fellow politicians.

The Premier’s Twitter handle is @colinbarnett, as @premierofwa and @emporerbarnett were already taken by jokers and impersonators.
