Magda Szubanski Signs Up for SBS Mardi Gras Broadcast

Mardi Gras Magda-001
Magda Szubanski will be joining  Tom Ballard and Patrick Abboud to host SBS’s coverage of the 2015 Mardi Gras parade.

Last year the broadcaster provided live coverage of the parade on SBS2. This year SBS will play an edited highlights of the parade on their main channel on SBS1 the day after the parade.

The move to SBS1 means more people will see the parade, and also people attending it can watch it the next evening. That is if they’ve recovered fully from the massive Saturday night party.

“It’s the party to end all parties and everyone is welcome to join in,” Szubanski said. “Mardi Gras is a wonderful way for all kinds of people to come together in a friendly, accessible celebration of diversity. I’m thrilled to be a part of the sparkle and magic of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade on SBS.

“So get your bedazzlers ready, pop on your sequined onesies – Australia, it’s time to get your gay on!”

Co-host Tom Ballard said he was looking forward to returning to SBS for the parade coverage and was thrilled that Magda Szubanski was joining the team in 2015.

Alongside SBS’s coverage the parade will also be streamed live online and Melbourne Radio Station JOYFM will conduct a live broadcast.

SBS’s coverage of the Mardi Gras parade will air on Sunday March 8th at 8:30pm.
