The star of the television show ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’, has gone on to appear in live tours and a film in the UK. The titular character, Mrs Brown, is an Irish matriarch who enjoys meddling with the lives of her children.

In the two minute short, Mrs Brown is preparing to make a statement on “midget equality” before being instead informed that she’s been asked to speak instead about marriage equality.

“What about it? Any two people who feel in love enough should be allowed to get married! What’s the feckin’ fuss?!” she replies.

In the series, one of Mrs Brown’s sons, Rory, is gay. She speaks about what it would mean to her for her son to be able to legally marry in Ireland.

“I know that some of you think it’s not right. All I can tell you from my experience is that I can’t describe the joy I feel to see my son Rory having the same opportunity for happiness as everybody’s else’s son.”
A referendum on same sex marriage is taking place in the Republic of Ireland on May 22nd.
