Danny Pintauro, who revealed last week that he is living with HIV has appeared on popular TV show ‘The View’ to discuss his revelation with fellow child stars Candice Cameron Bure and Raven-Simone.

Candice Cameron Bure, who is known for her conservative and religious outlook on life, interviewed Pintauro alongside co-host Raven Symone. The pair have been criticised for ‘slut shaming’ the actor and prying into details of his sex life with his husband.

Cameron Bure first came to public attention as a child actress if the TV show ‘Full House’, while Raven-Symone starred on ‘The Cosby Show’ and ‘Disney’s ‘That’s So Raven’. While she does not identify as being gay, she doesn’t do labels, Raven-Symone is  in a long term relationship with a woman. Pintauro was also a child star, appearing on the sit-com ‘Who’s the Boss’.

Last week, Pintauro announced that he’d been living with HIV for twelve years during an interview with Oprah Winfrey. The actor also shared that he’d battled an addiction to methamphetamine.

Pintauro told the hosts of ‘The View’ that he hadn’t revealed his HIV status previously as it wasn’t ready to share the information with the world.

“Telling your family that you’ve got HIV is hard enough, telling your friends that you had a meth problem is hard enough. Telling the country and waiting for their response,.. it takes some time.” Pintauro said.

“I want to know. Do you take responsibility for your actions, for being promiscuous, going into a lifestyle of having heightened sex because of the meth that you were using?” Cameron Bure asked.

Pintauro said he was one hundred percent responsible for his own actions, adding that he didn’t want to be seen as a hero but serve as an example of what can happen if you get into drugs and didn’t take care of yourself.

Raven-Symone asked Pintauro’s husband, who was in the audience, if the couple ever had unprotected sex, leading to an awkward silence. Pintauro explained that the couple had had unprotected sex but highlighted that he had an undetectable viral load.

Cameron-Bure then read out a statement arguing stating that even with undetectable viral load there remained a chance of the virus being transmitted.
