Annual J Bird Art Award

J BirdThis is the third year of the Annual J Bird Art Award, named in memory of a fabulous and talented local female artist. J Bird was a friend to many in the Darwin and NT Art Community. Heavily involved in the Arts, J Bird was known for her ability to positively encourage others to expand and explore their talents. The $500 prize for the J Bird Award is designed to encourage GLBTI artists in the Darwin community to enhance their skills, gain knowledge and produce powerful works.

Gay, lesbian, transgender or intersex Darwinians and their friends are invited to submit artwork for the 2007 Art of Pride Exhibition. This year’s theme is ‘Darwin Icons’. Artists are free to interpret the theme any way they like. The exhibition will hang at the Darwin Visual Arts Association Gallery at Frog’s Hollow Centre for the Arts, 56 Woods St, Darwin.
