Channel Seven’s two-part miniseries about the life of Australia’s favourite music journalist Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum starts tonight.

Based on his autobiography, ‘The Never, Um… Ever Ending Story’, the series follows Meldrum’s influence on Australian music culture over his celebrated career and time on ‘Countdown’ and ‘Hey Hey It’s Saturday’.

The tele-movie will feature ‘The Secret Life Of Us’ star Samuel Johnson as Molly and Aaron Glenane as music industry mogul Michael Gudinski.

The show follows Molly’s time as a music producer, he produced the classic Aussie psychedelic song ‘The Real Thing’ that was performed by Russell Morris, before moving on to his TV career where Molly interviewed some of the biggest stars in the world.

Advance word on the show is Molly vetoed any scenes of him kissing a man, but the show does acknowledge his bisexuality. We’re looking forward to seeing actress Jacinta Stapleton playing Madonna – apparently she nails being the material girl.

Catch ‘Molly’ at 8:30pm, Sunday 7th February on Channel Seven.
