Tired Lion 2016

Local band Tired Lion look like they had a lot of fun shooting the video for the new track ‘Not My Friends’.

The band have recreated scenes from some of the most loved ’90s TV shows including the opening titles to the iconic series ‘Friends’

In the clip all four members of the grunge band get in on the action.

Sophie Hopes, Matt Tanner, Ethan Darnell and Nick Vasey take a trip to visit ‘Friends’, ‘That ’70s Show’, ‘The Office’, ‘Home Improvement’, ‘Scrubs’, ‘Seinfeld’, ‘Conan’, and even local music video institution ‘Rage’.

Lets hope the band get invited onto ‘Rage’ to sit on the couch and play their video of them sitting on the couch programming ‘Rage’.

Tired Lion explain the origin of the song

The band say the new tune is one of the their most emotionally raw and open writing efforts, front woman Sophie Hopes explained at the time of release that the song was inspired by a period in her life where she felt she lost her identity and attached herself to people who had a negative influence.

“I have never been inclined to go to extreme lengths to ‘fit in’ but at this time in my life I was so desperate to latch on to anything that made me feel like it was worth existing,” Hopes said.

“I eventually cut my losses, dropped the toxic people who appeared to be so pleasant to my face and moved on into a direction I chose for myself. I’m a lot happier being the outsider these days and I guess this was the song that justified the change.”

The band are playing a bunch of dates across the country before heading back to Perth for a hometown show at Capitol on May 28th, tickets are available at OzTix.

After that the band will spend two months touring around Europe before heading back to Australia for Splendour in the Grass.
