The Glory Republic: New queer party launches this Saturday

GLORYREPUBLICAn all new alternative affair for the LGBTIQ+ community is coming to Leederville this Saturday featuring roving performers, costumed capers and queer DJ’s on the decks.

Presented by the Bent-Femme Finishing School, Glory Republic offers a new space for Perth’s queer community to gather and enjoy an impromptu performance with their cocktail or just work it out on the dance floor.

Emma (AKA DJ Scissorfist), along with companion Adelaide, have brought together some of WA’s best queer female-identifying performers for a camp evening that echoes of the ballroom scene.

“We decided we need a new space to go and dance and express our love for performance,” DJ Scissorfist said, “A place where people can participate and express themselves however they choose to do that.”

Queer comedians Alissia Marsh and Helchild will be cruising the crowd early along with strip artist Stacy Star and the untameable Ginger Laminge before they take to the stage for four main shows.

Cigarette girls will be offering safe sex packs, which DJ Scissorfist says should “amp the crowd up early!” Scissorfist will be keeping the dance floor queer all night along with fellow DJ’s Skirt Cobain and Carmageddon.

Costumes are heartily encouraged by the team at Glory Republic, and the theme for this month’s party is “something you wouldn’t wear during the day.” Those who come decked out in their least appropriate day-wear will be rewarded at the door with cheap entry.

The Glory Republic Queer Launch Party is this Saturday 10th September from 8pm – 1am at Babushka Leederville. Tickets available from Trybooking.com
