MindOUT National Survey

Mental health services in Australia have been targeted in a new national project hoping to improve the needs of LGBTI people. The LGBTI National Health Alliance launched the MindOUT project last month with a survey canvassing the needs and current perceptions of the mental health sector. The survey questions applicants on their experiences of the mental health and suicide prevention sectors as well as what the community needs from the sector.

National LGBTI Health Alliance chair Paul Martin said the survey was only the first step.

‘We will be asking for input from Alliance members and other LGBTI organisations as to what they think can be done to create a mentally healthy community,’ he said.

WA representative for the Alliance, Dani Wright was also chairing the Alliance working group

‘It’s our chance to have input to create a healthier community and influence the development of LGBTI appropriate approaches to mental health and suicide prevention,’ Wright said.

The survey closes on Friday May 13 at www.lgbthealth.org.au/mindout.
