News Corp columnist Andrew Bolt has been attached by protesters as he arrived to speak at a Melbourne book launch.

Bolt was arriving at a Carlton restaurant to speak about The Art of the Impossible by Steve Kates, a book which focuses on US President Donald Trump.

CCTV captured the incident where two men attempted to spray the outspoken writer and TV host with a glitter substance.

Speaking about the incident on his SKY News program The Bolt Report, the TV host explained what occurred.

“A woman there wanted to take a selfie with me before I went in, well, then two masked protesters then jumped me, spraying me in the face and all over my suit with some sticky liquid with glitter and dye.” Bolt said.

In the video Bolt can be seen fighting back against the two men, pushing one to the ground. A third man took photographs of the incident before leaving the scene.

Speaking on his SKY News program Bolt played the CCTV footage to viewers and said, “Bad luck for them of course – I don’t do running and hiding,”

Bolt said the man who tackled him should be easy to recognise as he’ll probably have; “a big bruise on the left side of his face and another bruise between his legs.”

Today Bolt took to his blog at The Herald Sun describing the men as left-wing fascists, he also criticised the ABC for not giving the incident the same level of coverage as the attack on QANTAS boss Alan Joyce.

Victorian police have confirmed the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the Il Gambero restaurant.
