People interested in forming a committee to form a Perth contingent to attend the games are invited to a meeting at The Court Hotel on Sunday afternoon from 2pm.

The gathering has been organised by Team Perth, the community group that encourages participation in sport activities.

The 10th Gay Games will be in Paris from 4-10 August 2018. 15,000 participants from over 70 different countries are expected to take part in the event.  The Gay Games are based on the three guiding principles of participation, inclusion and personal best.

Thirty six different sports make up the competition including aquatics and diving, synchronised swimming, there’s a marathon and half-marathon, athletics, basektball, boxing, dancing, fencing, beach volley ball, cycling, roller-skating, golf, hockey, tennis, table tennis, wrestling and many more.

There’s also a conference focusing on discrimination and sports, and a variety of cultural activities including music, fashion and philosophy events.

It’s just over a year away, so head to to The Court on Sunday to get involved and ‘commence l’entraînement.’
