Andrew Laming describes the postal plebiscite as a Hydra

Coalition MP Andrew Laming has compared the government’s roll out of a postal plebiscite to a Hydra.

Speaking on SKY News’ To The Point, the Queensland MP said while the senate had knocked back the compulsory attendance plebiscite, the government had been able to progress their postal plebiscite plan.

The Queensland MP said it was like a Hydra, which is a mythological serpent creature with many heads.

In both Greek and Roman mythology the Hydra guard the entrance to the underworld. When it’s head is chopped off several more grow back in its place. It was also said to have poisonous breath and blood so virulent that even its scent was deadly.

Yes, that’s a government MP describing their policy, which he supports. Let’s just think about that analogy for a moment.

Here’s some thinking music.
