It’s not often than a relatively unknown act will surprise you with a world class performance, but that is exactly what LANKS opening act Teischa delivered at Jack Rabbit Slims.

Vocally sounding like the illegitimate Florence Welch and Adele’s secret love child, Teischa is an emerging artist that takes just one listen to fall under her spell.

Hailing from Perth her moody musings manage to be dark and twisty and simultaneous uplifting. With the recent single Midnight Hour being amongst many highlights Teischa is definitely one to watch.

Headlining the show was Melbourne based alternative electro maestro LANKS (aka Will Cuming). Comparisons could be made to singers like Jeff Buckley and Chris Martin but LANKS delivered a comprehensively original and energetic performance that matched my expectations of his chilled but dance-able brand of electro folk.

It also didn’t hurt that he happens to be sexy as fuck, but genuine stage presence is something you cannot fake. His music throws a bunch of influences ranging from 80’s pop, 90’s angst folk and Radiohead into a blender to produce an ethereal electronic mix with soaring vocals that also packs a poetic lyrical punch.

Described by Triple J’s Gemma Pike as a triple threat this singer, songwriter and producer is an artist who is going places and with his debut album Comfortable being released next year he’s one you’ll likely be hearing a lot more of.

The Comfortable Tour has wound up already with a final sold out closing night in Melbourne but more live dates and new material are still to come.
