Western Australian singer Abbe May has delivered a brand new tune. Love Decline is described as a sultry jam about shallow, decadent seduction.
“Love Decline is about a self-centered kind of love, a decadence and a sadness which tracks the rise and fall of passionate love,” said May.
“I wrote Love Decline after hearing an older man suggest that people don’t really fall in love after a certain age. He was talking about passionate love; the kind that requires a degree of foolish youthfulness,” May said.
“I found his romantic cynicism confronting. I’m still young and I’m still learning but I hope that old man wasn’t right about love being a load of crap.”
The track opens up with some great lyrics;
“She was born in the early 80’s, she drives a powder blue Mercedes, she drinks tequila soda with fresh lime, and you know she never stands in line.”
It’s one May’s catchiest tunes to date, it’s very sultry.
Abbe May will be playing a live show at the Chevron Musical Gardens as part of the Perth International Arts Festival. May will be celebrating the release of her fifth album Fruit as well as presenting Clam Jam a mini-festival of women in music.
The singer will also take part in local radio station RTRFM 92.1’s fortieth birthday celebrations. At RTRFM’s The Big 40 in December May will perform alongside the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra.
