The Waifs and Kasey Chambers are teaming up for an incredibly special show under the stars in Kings Park & Botanic Garden, on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
The two artists have enjoyed huge chart success in 2017 and they’ll be celebrating their success with a special show that will also include Lior and local artist Stella Donnelly.
It’s been a historic year for The Waifs. The band celebrated its 25th Anniversary with the release of their eighth album, Ironbark, and it shot straight to the top of the ARIA album chart.
Ironbark featured a song for every year of The Waifs’ existence, taking in 22 new tracks and three re-imaginings of live favourites (1996’s Shiny Apple and Take It In, 2004’s Willow Tree).
The chart success was the perfect launchpad for their 25th Anniversary Australian tour during the middle of the year, with more shows added in November due to popular demand.
Donna Simpson said the band’s fans had always been incredibly supportive.
“We’ve gotten used to our fans being along on our side and being so supportive,” Simpson said. “They’re there with us. This album is pretty much a big thank you. Thank you to everyone who’s ever come along to shows or bought our previous albums to help us survive 25 years as a band.”
Similarly Kasey Chambers has also topped the ARIA album chart in 2017. Her eleventh album, Dragonfly, notched up her fifth number #1 album release.
Produced by Kasey’s brother Nash Chambers, the double album featured guest appearances from Paul Kelly, Ed Sheeran, Vika and Linda Bull, Keith Urban and Foy Vance.
Acclaimed Australia singer/songwriter Lior is also on the line-up. Lior is currently in the studio working on a new album but has said he’s excited about coming back to Perth for this one-off show.
The show will also be a great chance to see rising local talent Stella Donnelly, who has emerged as one of the bright new lights of Australian music in 2017.
Her debut EP, Thrush Metal, saw her recently win a J-Award nomination as well as an unprecedented five categories at the WAM (WA Music) Awards.
The Waifs and Kasey Chambers with special guests Lior and Stella Donnelly will be playing in Kings Park on Saturday 3 February 2018. Tickets for on sale on Monday 27 November from Ticketmaster.
