Celine Dion announces Australian tour with quirky video

It’s official, Celine Dion is coming to Perth later this year. It’s the singer’s first tour down under in over a decade and she’ll be heading to Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and a jump over to Auckland in New Zealand.

While Australian audiences have waited a decade for the singer to return to our shores, fans in New Zealand have been waiting twice as long for a visit from the Titanic vocalist.

The singer released a video message to fans saying she was very excited about the upcoming tour and she couldn’t wait to see everyone. “I can’t wait to see you, I can’t wait to sing for you, we’re going to have a great time!” Dion said.

The show at the Perth Arena will be on Saturday 4th August, tickets will go on sale on Monday 19th February. The other dates on the tour are a Sydney show on Friday 27th July, then on to Brisbane on Monday 30th July, after the Perth show Dion will head to Melbourne for a show on Tuesday 7th August, before performing for her fans in New Zealand on Saturday 11th August.

Since her career started as a child star in Quebec Dion has released 15 albums in French and 11 English language albums. Her most recent English language release was 2013’s Loved Me Back to Life. A new album is expected to be released this year to coincide with her world tour.

Over her long career she’s released many hit songs, most notably My Heart Will Go On, the theme song to the film Titanic. Released in 1997 it was the highest selling song of the year, and is the all-time second highest selling song by a solo female artist.

Celine Dion also scored hits with Beauty and the Beast from Disney’s animated movie, The Power of Love, It’s All Coming Back to Me Now, Love Can Move Mountains, If You Asked Me To, Where Does Heart Beat Now, Mislead, Think Twice, Because You Loved Me, Falling Into You, All By Myself and Tell Him, her duet with Barbra Streisand.
