Jim Parsons and Claire Danes raise non-binary child in A Kid Like Jake

Culture

Claire Danes and Jim Parsons play parents trying to help their gender non-conforming child explore their identity in a new film from queer director Silas Howard.

A Kid Like Jake stars Leo James Davis as the titular character, as parents Alex (Danes) and Greg (Parsons) begin the process of finding the best kindergarten for their youngster in competitive New York.

Parsons and Danes are joined by Academy Award-winner Octavia Spencer, Priyanka Chopra, Transparent star Amy Landecker and Ann Dowd as Jake’s opinionated grandmother.

Director Silas Howard, the first trans director to work on Jill Soloway’s Transparent, has dedicated his career to telling LGBTI+ stories, beginning with the award-winning By Hook Or By Crook in 2001.

A Kid Like Jake is due for international release this June.
