Author Jilly Cooper says married men have stopped having affairs with women and are now just logging on to Grindr and hooking up with other men.

The best selling author made the comments while speaking at the Hay Festival in Wales.

The successful erotic novelist said a friend who was gay had told her Grindr was full of married men looking for sex, Cooper had her own theory on why men were looking for same sex hookups rather than affairs with women.

“I have one adorable gay friend whose lover died. He’s just started going on the internet now.

“He said it is extraordinary – it is all married men wanting to have gay affairs.

“Do you think they are so terrified of women now it is safer to go with their own sex?” Cooper said.

The author also suggested that the #metoo movement had stopped flirting saying, “You can’t flirt any more, it is so sad. You have a mini skirt up to here, then ‘do not touch’ tattooed across your knees.”

The 81 year old authors comments have been labeled ridiculous online and people are suggesting she should stick to fiction. Cooper was awarded a CBE by Queen Elizabeth at this year’s New Year Honours.
