Lauryn Hill books Perth show to celebrate 20th anniversary of iconic album

The singer will play a show at HBF Stadium on Tuesday 5th February ahead of the rest of her Australian dates. She’ll then head to Sydney on Thursday 7th February, and Brisbane on Sunday 10th February. With her Melbourne show on Wednesday 13th of February already sold out, Hill has just added a new Valentine’s Day show at Festival Hall.

Hill first came to prominence alongside Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel in the hip-hop band The Fugees. They scored a stack of hits off their second album The Score in 1996. Two years later Hill released her solo effort. The record was critically acclaimed and included hits Ex-FactorLost Ones, (Doo-Wop) That Thing, and Everything is Everything.

Despite being a top selling record, Hill has only released a handful of tunes since the album came out. She wrote and produced music for Aretha Franklin and put out an album of live acoustic songs, but aside from that he’s just released occasional songs for film soundtracks and collaborations with other artists.

The last time the artist played in Perth audiences were left unhappy when the singer’s performance at the Fremantle Arts Centre was cut short due to the venue’s strict curfew. In 2014 Hill was an hour late getting on stage, leaving fans disappointed when the show was forced to end at the scheduled time.

Tickets for the show go on sale on Thursday 22nd November from Live Nation
