Australian music icon Tina Arena has joined the board of the nation’s peak arts body with a three-year appointment.

Arts Minister Mitch Fifield said the “high-profile singer-songwriter, musician and musical theatre actor brings significant experience as an artist to the board.”

“She was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2016 for significant service to the music industry and as a supporter of charitable groups, and was awarded a Knighthood of the French National Order of National Merit for her contributions to French culture.”

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has often noted that Arena is his favourite Australian singer. Arena is joined by fellow newcomer Mario D’Orazio, former Channel 7 Perth managing director and board member of the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
