Pride Receives $20,000 for Fairday

Pride Receives $20,000 for FairdayFairday on 30th September 2007 at Russell Square in Northbridge will kick off this year’s Pride festival. Over the years Fairday, with its stalls, live entertainment and family-friendly atmosphere, has become one of the seminal events on our community calendar. This year’s Fairday promises to once again be a Pride month highlight as Pride WA has received $20,000 funding for the event.

Tanya Croft, Pride Co President, told OUTinPerth, ‘Pride is extremely pleased to have received $20,000 in funding from Lottery West to help subsidise the costs of Fairday. Fairday is the biggest and arguably most important event in the annual Pride calendar, bringing together members of the GLBT community from a range of ages and backgrounds, as well as their family and friends. However, staging Fairday is a very expensive exercise and this funding will be invaluable in helping offset some of these costs, in particular the costs of the required infrastructure for the event, such as fencing, staging, sound and tents.’
