CAUGHT IN A WEB
Award winning playwright Kate Mulvany delves into her childhood and growing up in Geraldton to deliver a powerful mystery, The Web, a tale about two young men growing up in a fictional regional town. It tells the story of Fred and Travis, the former far more shy than the confident and cocky Travis. When they end up working together on a school assignment, something goes horribly wrong, resulting in a vicious attack. What happens next you simply have to watch as both their words unravel. The Web – produced by Black Swan State Theatre Company – is pure Mulvany genius and promises to be a gripping night out. Not to be missed, it runs until October 11 at The Playhouse Theatre.

LAUGHING WITH SUSAN
The Lazy Susan Comedy Den is getting ready to crack out a barrel of laughs this October. They have two events happening upstairs at The Brisbane on Beaufort. First off is Shapiro Tuesdays happening Tuesday October 6. Dubbed as an experimental comedy night, this evening encourages the novice to step up and try their hand at comedy while the more established throw new work at the crowd and lap up the laughs. Then, it’s time for Comedy Den on Friday October 16, an intimate night filled with good quality laughs. Final line-up is yet to be confirmed, but rest assured it’ll be a doozy.

REGAL DANCING
The WA Ballet are heading to The Regal theatre to deliver Ballet at The Regal, a selection of modern and neo-classical ballet. The most exciting addition to the bill is Uwe Scholz’s masterpiece Suite No. 2 for two pianos by Rachmaninov. It utilises projected images by the great painter Kadinsky creating a visual layered feast sure to tantalise. And that’s just for starters! Also featured during the night are the works Dolly from Ivan Cavallari, Alejandro Cerrudo’s Lickety-Split and New Work by Timothy Harbour. On for three nights only (with a matinee), Ballet at The Regal runs from Thursday October 1 to October 3.

SHORELINES 2
OUTinPerth would like to congratulate staff journalist Scott-Patrick Mitchell on yet another poetic coup this year as he is named as one of three finalists to appear in Shorelines 2, an anthology of emerging poetry. Mitchell will join the equally talented James Quinton and Emma Rooksby in this highly anticipated book due for release mid-2010 by local publishing house Fremantle Press. The final selection was made by guest editor Tracy Ryan, known for her strong poetic works Scar Revision and Bluebeard in Drag. Shorelines 2 will be released during Fremantle Poetry Month, July next year, along with two other independent publications.
