Brian Wilson

In those philosophical discussions about what is the best album ever? One record that often gets a lot of votes in The Beach Boys’ ‘Pet Sounds’.

The Beach Boys’ opus was released in 1966 and was largely written and recorded by lead singer Brian Wilson on his own. Wilson had quit touring with the band to focus on writing and ‘Pet Sounds’ was the bands eleventh record. It spawned a stack the bands best known songs including ‘God Only Knows’, ‘Sloop John B’ and ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’.

‘Rolling Stone’ magazine listed ‘Pet Sounds’ as the second best album of all time behind The Beatles ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’. Beatles member Paul McCartney declared ‘God Only Knows’ as the most beautiful song ever written.

Now Wilson is coming to Perth to perform the album in it’s entirety. The first half of his show at the Riverside Theatre will focus on ‘Pet Sounds’, while the second half of the show will see him play the rest of his greatest hits.

Wilson’s band will feature fellow Beach Boys members Al Jardine, who was a founding member, and Blondie Chapman who was a member of the band in the early 1970s.

Brian Wilson will be at the Riverside Theatre on Thursday April 7th 2016, tickets will go on sale on Thursday November 26th from 11am via www.ticketek.com.au
