A two CD display of the vocal talent of Christina, the aptly named Back to Basics does exactly that when it comes to the album’s music, stripping down (much like Christina in the bonus DVD music videos) to the basics of R&B, pop, jazz and even swing. The content goes basic as well, with songs never straying too far from the subject (sex) that made Christina a star. While at times more subtlety and less variety would have served the pop princess well, the diva’s sex appeal nevertheless reigns across the Jazz Age, the Swing Era and the Pop Millenium. –Megan Smith
